1 Large sweet onion, chopped
1/4 c tomato sauce
3 tbsp cold water
2 tbsp ketchup
1 tbsp sugar
1 Garlic clove, minced
1/4 tsp dried oregano
1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
2 Large Egg whites
1-1/2 tsp poultry seasoning
1/4 tsp black pepper
1-1/2 lbs LEAN GROUND TURKEY
6 Whole wheat hamburger buns, split
Sweet Onion Relish
In a small skillet, combine ingredients. Cook, uncovered, over medium heat for 10-15 minutes or until onions are tender, stirring occasionally. Set aside.
Turkey Burgers
In a large bowl, combine the egg whites, poultry seasoning and pepper. Crumble turkey over the mixture and mix well. Shape into 6 burgers.
Using long-handled tongs, dip a paper towel in vegetable oil and lightly coat a grill rack.
Grill burgers, covered, over medium heat, about 4-5 inches from the heat source for 5 to 7 minutes per side or until a food thermometer reaches 165 degrees F.
Serve on toasted buns with Sweet Onion Relish.
Serving Size: 1 burger with 4 Teaspoons relish
