1 (19.5 oz) Package HOT ITALIAN TURKEY SAUSAGE, Casings Removed If Necessary
1 lb GROUND TURKEY
1 Medium Green Pepper, Seeds Removed And Chopped
1 Small Onion, Chopped
4 Cloves Garlic, Minced
2 (8-oz) Cans No-Salt Added Tomato Sauce
2 tbsp No-Salt Added Tomato Paste
1 tbsp Chili Powder
2 tsp Dried Parsley Flakes
1 tsp Dried Oregano
8 Whole-Wheat Hamburger Buns, Split
3/4 c Shredded Part-Skim Mozzarella Cheese
1/4 c Shredded Parmesan Cheese
In a Dutch oven, cook the sausage, ground turkey, pepper, onion, and garlic over medium heat until the sausage and turkey are no longer pink. Stir in tomato sauce, tomato paste and seasonings.
Bring to a boil. Immediately reduce heat to low. Cover and gently simmer for 30 minutes.
Spoon 3/4 cup turkey mixture onto each bun. Sprinkle turkey mixture with cheeses.
