It’s so simple, and makes for an easy meal on the grill. Add a few slices of crisp turkey bacon to upgrade your TLT to a TBLT!
1 lb turkey breast slices, cutlets or chops
Creole seasoning (A store bought mix of salt, garlic, thyme and cayenne)
½ c mayonnaise
8 slices good white bread or Texas toast
4 slices of a big red tomato (or 8 smaller slices)
4 leaves romaine lettuce
Prepare the grill to cook medium high over direct heat. In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise and 1 teaspoon creole seasoning. Set aside.
Season the turkey slices liberally with creole seasoning. Grill them for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked to an internal temp of at least 165°F. Remove to a plate.
To make the sandwiches, toast the bread, then spread each slice with a portion of the spiced mayonnaise. Top four of the slices with a leaf of romaine, then a slice or two of tomato and then a quarter of the turkey. Top that with the remaining toasted slices. Secure with toothpicks and cut the sandwiches in half to serve.
